Vocabulary Learning
🕵️ THE 'TIME MACHINE' PATTERN
In this story, we see a clear switch between Now and Then. For A2 learners, the most important thing is knowing which word to use when the time changes.
1. The 'Then' (Past) When something is finished, we add -ed or change the word. Look at these changes from the text:
- disappear → disappeared
- look → looked
- stop → stopped
Special Change: The word find becomes found. It does not use -ed!
2. The 'Now' (Present) When something is happening right now, the words stay simple:
- Police are looking...
- Police do not know...
3. The 'Future' (Will) When the police talk about a promise or a plan for later, they use will:
- They will pay...
Quick Logic Map: Past (Finished) Found/Looked/Stopped Present (Now) Are/Do not Future (Later) Will pay
