💡 THE "PAST ACTION" PATTERN

Look at how the text describes things that already happened. To reach A2, you need to move from present to past.

The Simple Shift Most words here just add -ed to show the action is finished:

  • Fight → Fighted (Wrong!) \rightarrow Fought (Special case)
  • Work \rightarrow Worked
  • Kill \rightarrow Killed
  • Stop \rightarrow Stopped
  • Hit \rightarrow Hit (Stays the same!)

Why this matters: If you say "Police stop gangs," it happens every day. If you say "Police stopped gangs," it is a news story about yesterday.

Quick Guide for A2:

  • Regular: Just add -ed (worked, killed).
  • Irregular: The word changes completely (fight \rightarrow fought).
  • No Change: The word stays exactly the same (hit \rightarrow hit).

Example from text: "They thought he was a bad man, but they were wrong." (Think \rightarrow Thought / Are \rightarrow Were)
