Comparing Things (More & Less)

In this text, we see how to describe changes using More and Less. This is a key skill for A2 learners to describe the world.

1. Higher Amount (More)

  • Example: "Farmers pay more."
  • Pattern: [Person/Thing] + [Action] + more.
  • Meaning: The cost went up.

2. Lower Amount (Less/Fewer)

  • Example: "Businesses invest less money."
  • Example: "Car companies have fewer customers."

The Simple Secret:

  • Use Less for things you cannot count (money, time, water) \rightarrow Less money.
