🌍 Talking About Numbers and People

When we describe problems in the world, we use numbers + people. This is a great way to move from A1 to A2 English.

The Pattern: Number \rightarrow Group of People \rightarrow Action/State

Examples from the text:

  • 266 million people \rightarrow have no food
  • 1,000 people \rightarrow are sick
  • 32 million people \rightarrow get medicine

🛠️ Simple Word Swaps

To make your English more natural, try these simple replacements found in the article:

  • Instead of saying "very bad," use \rightarrow difficult
  • Instead of saying "did a building," use \rightarrow built
  • Instead of saying "getting ready," use \rightarrow preparing

💡 Quick Tip: "More than"

When a number is not exact, use "More than".

Example: "More than 1,000 people" means 1,001, 1,005, or 1,100. It is a very useful phrase for A2 students reporting news.
