Main Body

The rain came twelve days late. This helped the city because it was very hot and there was not enough water.

But the rain broke some train tracks. The ground under the tracks moved. Trains stopped between Turbhe and Koparkhairane stations to keep people safe.

Workers fixed the tracks. Then the trains moved very slowly. This made people late by 45 minutes. There was also water on the tracks between Kurla and Matunga.

People found new ways to travel. Some people shared cars. Some people left home at different times. Many people want the city to fix the water pipes.

Conclusion

The rain gave the city water. But it also showed that the trains and pipes are not strong enough.

The 'Past' Secret

To reach A2, you need to talk about things that already happened. This story uses Regular Verbs.

Look at how these words change to show the past:

  • Start → Started
  • Cause → Caused
  • Help → Helped
  • Move → Moved
  • Fix → Fixed

The Pattern: Just add -ed to the end of the action word.

Watch Out! The Rebels

Some words do not follow the -ed rule. These are 'Irregular'. You must memorize them:

  • Come \rightarrow Came
  • Break \rightarrow Broke
  • Stop \rightarrow Stopped (This one is regular, but the 'p' doubles!)

Useful A2 Phrasing

Instead of saying "bad things happened," use these simple connections from the text:

Rainightarrowextwateronstreetsightarrowexttrainproblems\text{Rain} ightarrow ext{water on streets} ightarrow ext{train problems}
