💡 The 'Does Not' Pattern

In this story, we see a lot of things that are NOT happening. To reach A2, you must know how to say "No" for actions.

The Rule: When we talk about one person (He/She/It), we use does not (or doesn't) + the action word.

From the text:

  • Josh \rightarrow does not say sorry.
  • Josh \rightarrow does not want to say sorry.
  • UFC \rightarrow did not punish him (Past time).

Compare these:

  • I do not like \rightarrow He does not like
  • You do not want \rightarrow She does not want

Quick Tip: Notice that after "does not," the action word is simple. We say "does not say," NOT "does not says."

Common Word Pairings found here:

  • Say sorry \rightarrow To apologize
  • Make money \rightarrow To earn
  • Win a title \rightarrow To become champion
