🔍 The 'Action' Pattern

In this story, we see how to describe people doing things now versus things they already did.

1. Happening Now (Current Action) We use am/is/are + verb-ing.

  • Police are looking into crimes. → (They are doing it right now).
  • Police are waiting for tests. → (They are still waiting).

2. Finished (Past Action) We use the simple past form.

  • The clinic gave the wrong babies. → (It happened once in the past).
  • Police found a group of people. → (The finding is finished).

Quick Word Map: gave \rightarrow give (past) found \rightarrow find (past) arrested \rightarrow arrest (past)

💡 A2 Tip: When you tell a story, start with the Finished actions to explain the problem, then use Happening Now to explain the current situation.
