🛠️ Building Age Descriptions

In this story, we see a very common way to describe people's ages. It is a simple pattern: Number + year-old + person.

How it works:

  • 16 → 16-year-old girl
  • 15 → 15-year-old boy
  • 19 → 19-year-old man
  • 67 → 67-year-old woman

⚠️ The Golden Rule: When we use the age as a 'label' before the person, we use -year-old (singular). We do NOT say "16-years-old girl."

⚡ Quick Action Words (Past Tense)

Notice how the story tells us what happened using simple past actions. Most of these just need a -ed at the end:

  • Arrest \rightarrow arrested
  • Chase \rightarrow chased
  • Park \rightarrow parked

The 'Rule Breakers' (Irregular): Some words change completely. You just have to memorize them:

  • Die \rightarrow died (regular)
  • Hit \rightarrow hit (stays the same!)
  • Find \rightarrow found

Example flow: Police chased the car \rightarrow The car hit a pole \rightarrow Police found a gun.
