Past (Finished) Present (Now)

- stopped stop

Quick Rule: When you see -ed at the end (like stopped), the action is over. If there is no -ed and it is a simple word (like stop), it is usually happening now or is a general fact.
Example from the news: "A man fell (Past) into a water tank." He is not falling now; it is over.
