Main Body

The fair has planes in the sky and a military band. Some singers did not want to play here because of politics. So, the President spoke to the people instead.

工人在國家商城豎起圍欄和一個大摩輪。他們花了很多錢來修整一個水池。政府從紀念碑中移除了部分關於奴隸制度與天氣的標誌。

The President said 45,000 people came to the fair. Other news reports said only 1,000 people were there. Some videos show people leaving while the President spoke.

Vocabulary Learning

🕒 Now vs. Then

In this text, we see two ways to talk about time: Past (things that finished) and Future (things that will happen).

1. The Past (Finished) We add -ed to the action word to show it is over.

  • start → started
  • celebrate → celebrated
  • spend → spent (special change!)
  • remove → removed

2. The Future (Coming Soon) We use will be or will have for things that are not here yet.

  • The fair ends on July 10 \rightarrow (Fact/Schedule)
  • There will be fireworks \rightarrow (Future promise)

💡 Simple Tip: If you see -ed, look back. If you see will, look forward.
