Vocabulary Learning

⚽ THE 'PAST' PATTERN

In this story, we see how to talk about things that already happened. To move to A2, you need to know how to change an action word to show it is finished.

The Basic Change Most words just get an -ed at the end:

  • Play → Played
  • Help → Helped
  • Move → Moved

The 'Rule-Breakers' Some words change completely. You must memorize these because they are very common:

  • Win → Won
  • Do → Did

The 'No' Pattern (Negative) When you want to say something did not happen, use did not + the simple word.

Wrong: They did not lost. Right: They did not lose.

Quick Summary for You: Action happened → Add -ed (or use the special form like won). Action didn't happen → did not + simple word.
