FIFA said no. FIFA says people can use rainbow flags for human rights. This is different from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. In Qatar, FIFA stopped some flags.

Seattle police want the city to be safe. They will use drones and boats to watch the people. The teams still want to win the game to move to the next round.

🚩 The Word 'STOP'

In this story, the word stop is used in two different ways. This is a great way to see how English words change based on who is talking.

1. To ask for an end "The leaders... asked FIFA to stop the flags." → This means: "Please make the flags go away."

2. To prevent something from happening "FIFA stopped some flags." → This means: "FIFA did not allow the flags."

💡 Quick Guide: 'SAY' vs 'SAYS'

Look at how the author talks about people:

  • They say... (Used for more than one person/group)
  • FIFA says... (Used for one organization)

Rule: If it is one person or one thing, add an -s to the action word.

✈️ Moving Forward

"...to move to the next round."

In sports and games, move doesn't always mean walking with your legs. Here, it means progressing to a better position in the tournament.
