The 'Missing' Pattern

In this story, we see a common way to say something is NOT there. This is key for A2 level describing scenes.

1. The Word: MISSING When something should be in a place, but it is not, we say it is missing.

  • Example: "Other great players are also missing."
  • Meaning: They are not on the poster → they are missing.

2. How to use 'NOT ON' We use on for posters, lists, and screens. To say a person is not there, use: Subject + is/are + not on + the thing.

  • Caitlin Clark is not on the poster.
  • Diana Taurasi is not on the poster.

Quick Tip: 'Not in' vs 'Not on'

  • In the picture → Inside the frame.
  • On the poster → On the surface of the paper.

Both are used in the text to show the players are gone!
