⚡ The 'Did Not' Pattern

In this story, we see a very important way to say No in the past.

The Rule: To say something did not happen, use: did not + action word (base form)

Examples from the text:

  • Henry did not attack Digwa. (Not: did not attacked)
  • Police did not put handcuffs on Digwa. (Not: did not putted)

Quick Guide: did not → It is a 'magic' word that takes away the past tense from the action word.

Compare these two:

  1. Positive: Henry attacked. (Past form)
  2. Negative: Henry did not attack. (Base form)
