⚡ The 'Past Action' Pattern
Look at these words from the story:
- Spent
- Put
- Grew
- Started
- Used
- Arrested
What is happening? These words tell us about things that are finished. In English, we change the action word to show the time is over.
How to spot the difference:
Most words just add -ed:
Arrest Arrested
Start Started
Some words are "rebels" and change completely:
Spend Spent
Grow Grew
Quick Guide for A2: If you see -ed or a special past form, the event is in the past. It is not happening now. It is over.
