Court Protects Baby Boy

Introduction
A court in West Kowloon says a baby boy needs protection. The Social Welfare Department (SWD) will look after him for three years.

The police arrested the parents. The parents did not take care of the baby. They did not go to a doctor for the birth. They did not give the baby a name or a DNA test.

When we want to say someone failed to do something in the past, we use this simple pattern:
Person did not Action (Basic Form)
Look at these examples from the story:
- They did not take care of the baby.
- They did not go to a doctor.
- They did not give the baby a name.
💡 Quick Tip for A2 Learners: Notice that we use "go" and "give", NOT "went" or "gave".
Even though it happened in the past, the word "did" already tells us it is the past. The action word stays in its simplest form.
