In this news report, we see how to talk about things that already happened.

The Pattern: Most of these words just add -ed at the end to show the past.

hurt $\rightarrow$ hurt (Stayed the same!)
judge $\rightarrow$ judged
change $\rightarrow$ changed

The 'Special' Words: Some words change completely. You must memorize these:

go $\rightarrow$ went
fall $\rightarrow$ fell
win $\rightarrow$ won

💰 Who owns what? (Possessives)

Look at how the text describes people and things:

$\text{The US military}$ $\rightarrow$ The military of the US. $\text{World leaders}$ $\rightarrow$ Leaders of the world.

Tip: In English, we often put the "owner" (the US, the World) before the "thing" (military, leaders) to keep the sentence short.
