The 'Past Action' Pattern

Look at how the story tells us what happened. Most of the words end in -ed. This is how we talk about things that are finished.

Examples from the text:

  • caught \rightarrow (Special word: change from catch)
  • planned \rightarrow plan + ed
  • stopped \rightarrow stop + ed
  • arrested \rightarrow arrest + ed
  • deleted \rightarrow delete + d

Using 'A Lot Of' vs 'Many'

Both words mean a large number, but we use them differently here:

  1. Many guns: Used for things we can count (1 gun, 2 guns).
  2. A lot of bullets: Also for things we can count, but it feels more natural in a story.

Quick Tip: If you are not sure, use "a lot of." It works for almost everything! 🌟
