💡 The 'Want' Pattern

In this story, we see a common way to say you desire something. This is a key building block for A2 English.

The Rule: Person/Group + want(s) + Something/Someone

Examples from the text:

  • Teams \rightarrow want new players.
  • Houston \rightarrow wants Marcus Smart.
  • Memphis \rightarrow wants to trade Ja Morant.

Wait! Why 'want' and 'wants'?

  • Want: Use this for many people (Teams, They).
  • Wants: Use this for one person or one team (Houston, Memphis, He).

🛑 Saying 'No' (Negative Sentences)

Look at how the writer says things are not happening. They use do not or does not before the action word.

  • Many people: They \rightarrow do not want Morant.
  • One person: He \rightarrow does not score many points.

Quick Tip: When you use does not, the action word stays simple. You don't say "does not scores"; you say "does not score."
