The Simple Rule: Most words just need an -ed at the end (like helped). Some words are "rebels" and change completely (like bring becoming brought).
Why this matters for A2: If you want to describe your day or a news event, you must use these "past" versions of words. If you say "The rain fill the road," it sounds like it is happening every day. If you say "The rain filled the road," it is a finished event.
