🕒 Talking About the Past
In this story, everything already happened. To tell a story about yesterday or last year, we usually add -ed to the action word.
Look at these changes:
- Play → Played
- Rest → Rested
- Watch → Watched*
Wait! Some words are rebels. They don't follow the -ed rule. You just have to memorize them:
- Win → Won
- Is/Are → Was/Were
Quick Guide for A2: If you want to say something happened in the past, check if the word is a 'regular' (add -ed) or a 'rebel' (change the word).
Example from the text: "Wales won the game" (Rebel word!) "The players rested" (Regular word!)
💡 Pro Tip: To say something did not happen, use did not + the simple word.
- Wrong: Did not played
- Right: Did not play
