⚡ The 'Action' Pattern

Look at these sentences from the text:

  • "A man had a gun"
  • "An officer shot him"
  • "He fought with the police"

What is happening? These are all things that happened in the past. To tell a story about yesterday or last week, we change the action word (the verb).

Simple Changes to Remember:

  • Have → Had
  • Shoot → Shot
  • Fight → Fought
  • Hit → Hit (This one stays the same!)

How to use this for A2: When you describe a finished event, don't use the present.

Wrong: He has a knife. (Now) Right: He had a knife. (Then)

Quick Map: Person → Past Action → Object Man → had → gun Officer → shot → him
