⚡ The 'Action' Word

Look at how the story describes things that already happened. This is the most important part of A2 English: talking about the past.

The Pattern Most words just get an -ed at the end to move from today \rightarrow yesterday.

  • Arrest \rightarrow Arrested
  • Use \rightarrow Used
  • Close \rightarrow Closed
  • Start \rightarrow Started

The 'Rule Breakers' Some words change completely. You must memorize these because they don't follow the -ed rule:

  • Go \rightarrow Went
  • Tell \rightarrow Told

Quick Guide: Using 'Wants' When a person has a goal, use Wants to + Action:

  • He wants to stop corruption.
  • He wants to clean the government.
  • He wants to take weapons.
