Main Body

The experts removed two old voting areas. These were Stretton and Hill. They made two new areas. These are Caboolture and Springfield. They did this because more people live in those places now.

專家們刪除了兩個舊的選區,分別是 Stretton 和 Hill。他們建立了兩個新區域,即 Caboolture 和 Springfield。這樣做是因為現在住在那些地方的人增加了。

Many more people live in Queensland now than in 1949. But the number of seats in parliament did not grow much. This is a problem for big areas in the country.

現在住在昆士蘭州的人比 1949 年多得多,但議會的議席數量並沒有大幅成長。這對於鄉村地區的大型區域來說是一個問題。

The experts have some ideas to fix this. They want more seats in parliament. Or they want more money for people in very big areas. Some politicians are happy, but some are angry about these changes.

💡 The 'Change' Pattern

In this text, we see how things move from Old \rightarrow New. This is a great way to learn how to describe changes in English.

1. Removing and Adding

  • Removed: Stretton and Hill (They are gone ❌)
  • Made: Caboolture and Springfield (They are new ✅)

2. Comparing Then and Now Look at how the text compares the past to the present:

  • 1949 \rightarrow Few people
  • Now \rightarrow More people

3. Simple 'Feeling' Words When things change, people have reactions. Use these simple opposites:

  • Happy 😊 vs. Angry 😡

Quick Tip: When you want to say something is bigger than before, use "More [word]... than..."

  • Example: "More people live here now than in 1949."
