The Power of 'Must' vs 'Can'

In this text, we see how to tell people what is required and what is allowed. This is a key step for A2 learners to describe rules.

1. MUST (The Law) Use this when there is no choice.

  • Students must learn three languages.
  • New students must follow all rules.

2. CAN (The Option) Use this when it is possible or allowed.

  • Students can keep their old languages.

Quick Shift: Must → 100% Necessary Can → It is possible

Words for 'Groups of People'

Notice how the text identifies specific people to make the rules clear:

  • Students in Class 10 (Specific group)
  • New students (New arrivals)
  • Students with disabilities (Special needs group)
  • Students from other countries (International group)
