Delivery Robots in the UK

Introduction

The UK government is looking at new laws for delivery robots on the streets.

Main Body

A company called Starship Technologies makes small robots. These robots deliver food and items in cities like Bristol and Leeds. They use computers and sensors to move. Some people like them because they help parents and sick people.

But there is a problem with the law. An old law from 1835 says robots cannot be on the sidewalk. The government wants to change this law. If the law changes, the company can make 10,000 more robots in the UK.

Some people are not happy. A group called Living Streets says the robots are dangerous. They say the robots block the path for blind people and people in wheelchairs. The company says the robots are safe, but some people disagree.

Conclusion

The government will talk to the public. Then they will make a new law to keep people safe.

🤖 Focus: Saying 'Who' does 'What'

Look at how these sentences work. We start with the person or thing, then the action.

  • The company \rightarrow makes \rightarrow robots.
  • The robots \rightarrow deliver \rightarrow food.
  • The government \rightarrow wants \rightarrow to change the law.

💡 The "S" Trick

When we talk about one thing or person (He, She, It, The Company), we add an -s to the action word:

  • One robot moveS.
  • One company sayS.
  • One government wantS.

But when we talk about many things (They, Robots, People), the -s disappears:

  • Robots move.
  • Companies say.
  • People want.
