Main Body

This change helps your privacy. You can use a username when you talk to new people or in groups. Other apps like Telegram already do this.

Users can pick a name with 3 to 35 letters. Businesses can use the same name from Facebook or Instagram. This makes it easy for customers to find them.

WhatsApp protects famous people. You cannot take the names of leaders or celebrities. Also, there is no public list of names. You must know the exact username to send a message.

Some users can add a special security code. This is called a username key. It adds more safety to your chats.

Conclusion

WhatsApp will give this feature to everyone in the next few months. You do not have to use it.
