💡 The "Past Action" Trick

To tell a story about something that happened yesterday or last week, we usually add -ed to the action word.

Look at these patterns from the story:

  • stop \rightarrow stopped*
  • call \rightarrow called*
  • help \rightarrow helped*

⚠️ The "Rule Breakers"

Some words are lazy and do not follow the -ed rule. You must memorize these because they are very common in A2 English:

NowThen (Past)
be/is \rightarrow was/were
find \rightarrow found
see \rightarrow saw
have \rightarrow had

🛠️ How to say "NO" in the past

When we want to say something did NOT happen, we use one simple pair: did not + the normal word.

  • Wrong: They did not found.

  • Right: They did not find.

  • Wrong: They did not saved.

  • Right: They did not save.
