💡 The 'Action' Pattern

In this story, we see many things happening in the Past. To reach A2, you need to see how we change basic words to show something is finished.

The Pattern: Word \rightarrow Word + ed

  • want \rightarrow wanted
  • protest \rightarrow protested
  • arrest \rightarrow arrest**ed*

Wait! Some words are 'Rebels' (Irregular): These words don't follow the +ed rule. You must memorize them:

  • die \rightarrow died (follows the rule!)
  • have \rightarrow had (rebel!)
  • say \rightarrow said (rebel!)
  • leave \rightarrow left (rebel!)

Quick Rule for A2: If you see -ed, the action is over. If you see a 'rebel' word like left or had, the action is also over, but the word changed its shape.
