Introduction

A court in Jakarta said Nadiem Makarim must go to prison for ten years. He was the Education Minister. He broke the law when he bought computers for schools.

Between 2020 and 2022, Makarim bought Google Chromebooks. The court said he did not follow the rules. He bought these computers even though some schools had no internet.

This mistake cost the government about 120 million dollars. The court said Makarim used his power in a bad way. He must pay 809 billion rupiah back to the state.

The judge said Makarim planned this. But Makarim said he did nothing wrong. He said the government made a mistake. Some people think the government is just attacking people they do not like.

Conclusion

Nadiem Makarim must pay a 1 billion rupiah fine. He does not agree with the court. He wants to fight the decision in a new trial.
