The 'Want' Connection
In this story, we see people trying to change things or get things. We use want to + action to show a goal.
Examples from the text:
- Ukraine wants to honor soldiers.
- Some people want to take away a medal.
How to use it: [Person] wants to [Action]
Quick Shift: If the person is 'I', 'You', 'We', or 'They', remove the 's'.
- He wants to... They want to...
Simple Contrast: 'Now' vs 'Past'
Notice how the story jumps between times. This is key for A2 level speaking.
The Past (Then):
- "Soldiers... killed many people in the past."
The Present (Now):
- "Poland is now very angry."
- "Ukraine has fewer friends now."
Tip: Place now at the end of your sentence to make it clear you are talking about today.
