Introduction

All ten provinces in Canada now have a law to protect workers who are very sick.

New Brunswick changed its law in June. Now, workers there can take 27 weeks of unpaid leave for a serious illness. They will not lose their jobs.

新不倫瑞克省在六月修改了法律。現在當地的員工若患有嚴重疾病,可以請 27 週的無薪假,且不會失去工作。

Now, all provinces have similar rules. Workers in every part of Canada can take 26 or 27 weeks off for health problems like cancer.

In the past, only Quebec had this rule. In 2022, the national government changed the rules for some workers. Then, other provinces did the same. The Canadian Cancer Society is happy about this change.
