德國政府表示,主要的鐵路公司必須與其他公司共享軌道。
Main Body
For a long time, Deutsche Bahn controlled almost all long-distance trains. An Italian company called Italo said this was unfair. Also, the tracks and radios are old and often break. Now, the government wants more companies to sell tickets.
Deutsche Bahn cannot take all the space on busy tracks. They can only take 60 to 75 percent. Other companies like Italo and Flix can take the rest. Italo wants to spend 3.6 billion euros to start trains in 2028. They will go to big cities like Berlin and Munich.

The government thinks more companies will make tickets cheaper. They think the service will be better. But Deutsche Bahn is worried. They say the tracks are too old for more trains. They need more money to fix the tracks first.

🧩 The 'Want' Pattern
In this text, we see a very useful word for A2 learners: Want.
It shows a wish or a plan for the future. It is simple:
Person/Group → want(s) → Action
From the story:
- The government wants more companies... (The government = 1 group)
- Italo wants to spend... (Italo = 1 company)
Quick Rule: If it is one person or one company, add an -s (wants). If it is many people, use want.
🛤️ Comparing 'Old' and 'Better'
Notice how the article describes things changing:
- Now: The tracks are old. (Bad condition)
- Future: The service will be better. (Good condition)
When we move from a bad situation to a good one, we use words like better or cheaper to show the improvement.
