🕒 Talking about the Past vs. Now

In this story, we see two different ways to talk about time. This is the secret to moving from A1 to A2.

1. Things that already happened (Past) When something is finished, we often add -ed to the action word:

  • Want \rightarrow Wanted
  • Look \rightarrow Looked (though the text uses "is looking" for now)

2. Special Past Words Some words change completely. They don't follow the -ed rule:

  • Say \rightarrow Said ("Ray Williams said...")
  • Give \rightarrow Gave ("Jean Nassif gave money...")
  • Do \rightarrow Did ("...party did bad things")

3. Things happening soon (Future) When we talk about the future, we use will:

  • "Meetings will start"
  • "They will last"

Quick Summary Map: Past (Said/Gave) \rightarrow Present (Is looking) \rightarrow Future (Will start)
