⚡ The 'Did Not' Pattern

In the text, we see: "The USA did not give them visas."

When we talk about things that happened in the past but did not happen, we use this simple formula:

Person/Place + did not + Action (Basic Form)

Examples from the story:

  • The leaders \rightarrow did not want to talk.
  • The USA \rightarrow did not give visas.

Why this is helpful for A2: Stop worrying about changing the verb to the past (like wanted or gave). When you use did not, the action word stays simple.

did not wanted \rightarrowdid not want
