Main Body
In Australia, house prices were very high for a long time. Now, the government changed the tax rules. Interest rates are also high. Banks say house prices will go down soon.
In the USA, fewer people are buying houses. There are fewer babies and fewer new people moving to the country. Older people will sell their homes slowly.
Some places in the USA, like Texas, will have lower prices. Other places, like the Northeast, will still have high prices because there are not many houses.
Conclusion
Both countries are changing. Australia has new laws and the USA has fewer people.

📉 Comparing Amounts
In this text, we see a very useful pattern for A2 students: Fewer.
We use fewer when we talk about things we can count (like people, babies, or houses).
- Fewer people → Not as many people.
- Fewer babies → Not as many babies.
🕒 The 'Now' vs 'Then' Shift
Look at how the text moves from the past to the present:
Past "House prices were very high" Present "Prices are not growing fast now"
Tip: Use were for the old situation and are for the current situation to show a change.
