China's New Law on Ethnic Unity

Introduction

The Chinese government has a new law. This law wants all people in China to have the same national identity.

Main Body

Students must now learn Mandarin Chinese in all schools. They cannot use their own local languages in class. This happens in places like Tibet and Xinjiang.

China says this law keeps the country safe and peaceful. But the United Nations and other groups disagree. They say the law takes away cultural and religious freedom.

This law also affects people outside of China. The government can punish people in other countries if they do not support the law. Taiwan and the US are worried about this.

Conclusion

The law is now active. China will use it to make people follow one identity and to find people who disagree with the government.

💡 The Power of 'MUST'

In the text, we see: "Students must now learn Mandarin Chinese."

When you want to say something is a rule (no choice!), use MUST.

How to build it: Person \rightarrow must \rightarrow action

Examples from the real world:

  • I must wake up at 7 AM. \rightarrow (It is my rule)
  • You must wear a seatbelt. \rightarrow (It is the law)
  • We must study English. \rightarrow (It is necessary)

🌍 'THE' vs 'A'

Look at the difference in the text:

  1. "A new law" \rightarrow (One law, we are introducing it for the first time).
  2. "The law is now active" \rightarrow (The specific law we already talked about).

Simple Rule:

  • Use A/An for something general or new. \rightarrow I have a car.
  • Use The for something specific. \rightarrow The car is red.
