🛑 Talking about the Past
When we tell a story about something that already happened, we change the action word (verb). Look at these examples from the text:
- Drive → Drove
- Hit → Hit (This one stays the same!)
- Die → Died
- Stop → Stopped (or did not stop)
The Secret Rule: Most words just need a -ed at the end to go to the past. But some are "rule-breakers" (Irregular).
Example:
- Now: I drive a car.
- Yesterday: I drove a car.
Negative Past: To say "no," we use did not + the normal word.
- ❌ She did not stop (NOT
did not stopped). - ❌ He did not help.
