🕒 The "Past Tense" Secret

To move from Beginner to A2, you must talk about things that already happened. Look at these words from the text:

  • Happen \rightarrow Happened
  • Is \rightarrow Was
  • Go \rightarrow Went
  • Tell \rightarrow Told
  • Do \rightarrow Did

Why this matters: Most English verbs just need an -ed at the end to go into the past (like happened). But some are "rebels" and change their whole shape (like go becoming went).

Quick Guide for the Rebel Words:

  • Go \rightarrow Went (Moving to a place)
  • Tell \rightarrow Told (Giving information)
  • Do \rightarrow Did (Performing an action)

Simple Pattern: Subject + Past Verb + Place/Time Example: "A police officer \rightarrow was \rightarrow there."
