🕒 The 'Past Action' Pattern
Look at these words from the story: died, hit, flew, left, stopped, lived.
All these words tell us the story is finished. In English, we change the end of the word to show it happened yesterday or in the past.
Two ways to change words:
-
The Easy Way (+ed):
- stop stopped
- live lived
-
The 'Change Everything' Way (Irregular):
- fly flew
- hit hit (stays the same!)
- leave left
💡 A2 Pro Tip: If you see a word ending in -ed, it is almost always a past action. If you see flew or left, you are talking about a memory, not right now.
