Vocabulary Learning

🕒 PAST vs. PRESENT

Look at how the story changes time. This is the secret to A2 English: knowing if it happened then or it is happening now.

THE PAST (Finished)

  • fought \rightarrow (fight)
  • attacked \rightarrow (attack)
  • said \rightarrow (say)
  • stopped \rightarrow (stop)

THE PRESENT (Now/Current)

  • want \rightarrow (desire)
  • is \rightarrow (state of being)
  • are talking \rightarrow (happening right now)
  • have \rightarrow (possess)

💡 Quick Tip: The "ED" Rule Notice that many words in the past end in -ed (attacked, stopped). When you see this, the action is over. If the word looks normal (want, have), it is usually about the present.
