Simple Rule: To talk about yesterday or a finished game, usually add -ed to the end of the word. Some words are 'rebels' and change completely (like lose lost).
The 'Not' Power
When we want to say something didn't happen in the past, we use a helper word: did not.

Notice that after did not, the action word goes back to its normal, present form (give), NOT the past form (gave).
