⏳ The 'Then' and 'Now' Pattern

Look at how the story changes from the past to the present. To reach A2, you need to see the difference between things that happened and things that are true now.

1. Past (Finished Actions) These words tell us the story is over:

  • started \rightarrow began
  • put \rightarrow placed
  • arrested \rightarrow caught by police
  • closed \rightarrow shut down
  • spoke \rightarrow talked

2. Present (Current Situation) These words tell us the situation right now:

  • is free \rightarrow not in prison
  • is now in \rightarrow located at
  • are still in \rightarrow remaining in

💡 Simple Rule: If you see -ed (like arrested), the action is usually a memory. If you see is or are, it is happening today.
