Many countries in Africa have big problems now. There is war, hunger, and leaders are angry with each other.

When we want to say something exists in a place, we use these two simple forms:
1. One thing (Singular) → There is
- There is war.
- There is a lot of fighting.
2. Many things (Plural) → There are
- There are big problems.
