💡 The "Action Word" Pattern

Look at how we describe people doing things in the text:

  • Government \rightarrow arrested people
  • Police \rightarrow stopped people
  • Man \rightarrow called the leader a dictator

The Simple Rule: When we talk about things that happened in the past, we often just add -ed to the action word.

Compare:

  • Stop \rightarrow Stopped
  • Arrest \rightarrow Arrested

Special Words (No -ed): Some words change completely.

  • Go \rightarrow Went (Example: "Some people went to jail")
  • Say \rightarrow Said (Example: "Other countries do not say anything" \rightarrow "They said nothing")

Key Vocabulary for A2:

  • Dangerous: Not safe.
  • Freedom: Being able to do what you want.
