💡 THE 'ACTION' PATTERN

Look at how the text describes things happening right now or in the future. For A2, you need to know the difference between General Facts and Future Plans.

1. General Facts (Present Simple) These are things that are true or happen regularly.

  • The US is moving... \rightarrow (Current action)
  • Some leaders were angry \rightarrow (Past state)

2. Future Promises (Will / May) When we aren't 100% sure, or we are making a promise, we change the verb:

  • Will = 100% sure / Promise \rightarrow Europe will now do more.
  • May = Maybe / 50% sure \rightarrow The US may sell fighter jets.

Quick Guide: The 'Money' Words In this text, we see a pattern of 'spending' and 'buying'.

  • Spend money \rightarrow Use money for a purpose.
  • Buy weapons \rightarrow Get a thing using money.

Simple Summary for You: If you want to talk about your own plans, use 'will' for a promise and 'may' for a possibility!
