❌ Saying 'NO' in the Past

In the text, we see a pattern: did not + action.

When we talk about things that happened before, we use did not (or didn't) to make a sentence negative.

Look at these examples from the story:

  • He \rightarrow did not play well.
  • He \rightarrow did not throw the ball far.

The Golden Rule: When you use "did not," the action word stays in its simplest form.

  • Correct: He did not play \checkmark
  • Wrong: He did not played ×\times

⚡ Quick Word Shift: Now vs. Then

Notice how the story moves between the past and the present:

Past (Then)Present (Now)
He playedHe is strong
He spokeHe wants
He didThe coach will pick
