New Savings Accounts for Children

Introduction

The US government has a new program called Trump Accounts. It helps children save money for the future.

Main Body

Children born between 2025 and 2028 get $1,000 from the government. This money goes into the stock market. Some other children get $250 from a gift by Michael and Susan Dell.

Some people like this plan. They say it helps poor children. Other people do not like it. They say the taxes are too high and it is not a good deal.

Parents and companies can also put money in the accounts. The child cannot take the money out until they are 18 years old. If they take money out before age 59.5, they must pay a fine.

Conclusion

The program is open now. About 6 million families use it.

💡 The 'People' Pattern

In this text, we see how to talk about groups of people who have different opinions. This is very useful for A2 level conversations.

The Pattern: Some people [action/feeling] \rightarrow Other people [different action/feeling]

Examples from the text:

  • Some people like this plan. \rightarrow Other people do not like it.

Why this works: Instead of using difficult words like "however" or "on the contrary," you can simply use Some and Other to show two sides of a story.
