⚡ The Power of 'Want'

In this text, we see a pattern: Somebody + want + to + action.

This is how you tell the world what you desire. It is a building block for A2 English.

Look at these examples from the story:

  • Group \rightarrow wants to lead
  • Group \rightarrow wants to fix
  • Leaders \rightarrow want to take
  • Leaders \rightarrow do not want

💡 Simple Rule: If the person is one (He/She/It/Group), add an 's' \rightarrow wants. If the people are many (They/Leaders), use no 's' \rightarrow want.

⚠️ The 'To' Bridge: Always put 'to' before the action word.

  • Correct: I want to help.
  • Wrong: I want help (This means you need help now, not that you desire to perform the action).

Quick Vocabulary Shift

  • Give up \rightarrow stop having/using something.
  • Take over \rightarrow get control of something.
