Introduction

Big storms, wind, and landslides killed many people in China. Many houses and roads are broken.

Main Body

Typhoon Maysak hit the south. A dam broke and water went into houses. Six people died. Also, 900 snakes escaped from a farm. Some snakes were dangerous.

In the center of China, strong winds and tornadoes hit. Eleven people died and many were hurt. In the west, a hill of dirt fell on workers. Twenty-one people died there.

Notice how the story uses "-ed" to show things already happened:

  • Kill \rightarrow Killed
  • Escape \rightarrow Escaped
  • Hurt \rightarrow Hurt (This one stays the same!)

A2 Tip: When you see "-ed", the event is finished. It is not happening now.
